Volunteers' Personal Goal | Al Carroll (Episode 27)
Volunteers make up many aspects of our associations from serving on committees, volunteering their time for events, assisting with the promotion of events, sharing the expertise to develop education, supporting advocacy work and so much more. While volunteers are needed, associations across the country are dealing with decreasing numbers of volunteers.
Recent studies from the AmeriCorps and the U.S. Census Bureau show that fewer people are volunteering than they were two decades ago. As we think of how to bring in more volunteers, the answer may be as simple as asking, “What are your personal goals?” Figuring out why our volunteers give us their time, what are their life goals, and how we can assist in getting them there.
Our guest today will give us some insight on how to navigate these questions and much more as it pertains to volunteers.
